| Q. What if I want information on just one of the PSI programs? |
Registration Options: Early Admission Option for High School Seniors at Saint Gregory's University & Newman University:
High School students who wish to enroll in university courses prior to completing their secondary school program may receive credit through Newman University. Students must meet the following requirements:
Transfer Credit for Adults Currently in Degree Programs: College students currently in degree programs may wish to take courses in the PSI degree programs and transfer that credit to their current degree program at another university. Theology classes offered through the PSI may be used as elective credit or a humanities credit in most any degree program.
Degree Students Degree programs are available for adults who are interested in taking courses leading toward an Associate's Degree of Youth Ministry; an Associate's Degree of Religious Studies; Bachelor's Degree in Theology; and Bachelor's Degree in Pastoral Ministry.
Non-Degree Students Students are welcome to audit credit courses of interest to them in the degree programs without intending to pursue a degree.
Personal Faith Enrichment Students Adults interested in taking non-credit courses for personal faith enrichment are welcome to enroll in any of the courses listed. |
| A. Individual brochures for more complete information on each of the six programs are available by contacting the PSI Office. | |
| Q. Will prior college credit apply to any of the degree programs? | |
| A. Yes, in most cases. Please call the PSI Office for details on each degree program. | |
| Q. Who can take classes? | |
| A. Any interested adult! The PSI offers classes not only for those who are eager to attain a college degree in Catholic theology, but also it is for those who wish to know more about the faith. Anyone can take any class, both credit and non-credit classes. People are encouraged to take the credit classes on an audit basis if they are interested in the particular topic, but have no desire to seek a degree. | |
| Q. Where are the classes held? | |
| A. Most credit and non-credit personal enrichment classes are held at the PSI main campus, Church of the Madalene, 3188 E. 22nd St., Tulsa. Other campuses this semester will include St. Clement Church, Bixby, and St. Henry Church, Owasso. See individual courses for locations; some courses are available through Distance Learning. | |
| Q. What if I live too far away to drive to Tulsa to take a class? | |
| A. With enough interest, the PSI will offer classes in your parish. Just contact the PSI Office for more information. One of the PSI instructors will travel to your parish to offer courses. | |
| Q. What is the tuition? | |
| A. Each class is different, so tuition varies. Most non-credit classes are free. Please check each class for specific tuition or fee information. Credits cards are now being accepted. | |
| Q. Are scholarships available? | |
| A. Yes! The Catholic Foundation of Eastern Oklahoma, Inc., offers scholarships to Diocese of Tulsa students in the Master's and Bachelor's degree programs. Students must be enrolled in nine hours (three courses) to qualify. Call the PSI Office for details. | |
| Q. Why take these courses? | |
| A. To learn more about the Catholic faith. The Code of Canon Law says "Lay persons are bound by the obligation and possess the right to acquire a knowledge of Christian doctrine adapted to their capacity and condition so that they can live in accord with that doctrine, announce it, defend it when necessary, and be enabled to assume their role in exercising the apostolate. Lay persons also possess the right to acquire that deeper knowledge of the sacred sciences which are taught in institutes of religious sciences by attending classes and obtaining academic degrees," (can.229 1, 2). Many PSI students attend classes to prepare for or advance in apostolates and services areas such as religious education and catechesis, RCIA, youth, liturgy, social justice, peer ministers and evangelization. | |

| A. This schedule lists courses which will be held from August to July. More detailed semester calendar dates are listed under each degree program and non-credit dates are included with each class description. | |
