Roamin' Catholic
6:30 Mass, followed by discussion

Every once in a while, we like to travel to churches of the Diocese to visit with priests we might not otherwise meet at our home parishes. This month, we’ll be travelin’ to St. Pius X Church for Mass and a discussion with Fr. Mike Knipe.

St. Pius is the home of one of the Diocese’s elementary/middle schools and recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. The church was the centerpiece of the Moeller Heights neighborhood in which it is nestled. You may have visited if you’ve been to the Bishop Kelley Baccalaureate Mass. Quick trivia: St. Pius has the largest alter in the Diocese. It’s round architecture and pitched white roof lend it to resemble a circus tent, so we’ll be having Mass “under the big top!”

Fr. Mike Knipe has served as the deacon of St. Pius for the past six years. He serves on the Marriage Tribunal for the Diocese, and came to speak on this topic at June’s Theology on Tap. His knowledge coupled with his ability to bring dense topics to a simple level make him a great teacher of Church doctrine.

Refreshments will be served at the rectory (catty-corner on the St. Pius campus from the church) following Mass. We’ll have an opportunity to visit with Fr. Mike in an “Open Mic” format: you bring the questions, and he’ll answer them if he can. Our past “Open Mic” nights have been some of the best events of the year!

Whether you are searching for a parish/pastor, or you are just interested in learning more about the Diocese, you shouldn’t miss this month’s “Roamin’ Catholic.”

Location: St Pius X Church - Chapel (1727 S 75th E Ave)
